CD Projekt Red released Cyberpunk 2077’s free Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) on 22 October 2026 for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, bringing cross-platform mods through mod.io to consoles as well as PC. The studio says the update will reach Nintendo Switch 2 “in the days to follow”. It arrived two days after the second season of the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners premiered on Netflix on 20 October, Xbox Wire notes.
Curated mods on consoles
For players and modders, the biggest change is not tied to the anime. According to CD Projekt Red’s preview of the update, published the day before release, players can browse and install a selection of community mods from an in-game menu on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, with more to be added over time. On consoles, achievements and trophies cannot be earned while playing a modded save.
CD Projekt Red used the same approach a month ago. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered launched on 29 September with mod.io support for cross-platform mods on consoles, as we noted in our September–October roundup. With two of its biggest games now on the same system, the studio is treating curated, cross-platform modding as a standard feature rather than a PC-only extra. The word “selection” matters: on consoles players get a curated catalogue through mod.io, not the open, file-level modding that PC players use. CD Projekt Red has not said how mods are chosen for that catalogue.
What else is in 2.5
The preview lists the other main additions:
- Dual-wielding: a new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, with four supporting perks, lets V wield two Power pistols or revolvers at once.
- Cyberware customisation: Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System can be given skins with custom colours at five new Glamdocs, shown on the map with a spray-paint icon.
- New quests: Clampdown is set before the events of Edgerunners 2 and unlocks after The Heist and two gigs for Wakako. Welcome to Paradise is a guided tour narrated by Richard Night, unlocked at Street Cred 15.
- Tarot: 12 new Minor Arcana cards, part of a Fool on the Hill extension.
- Console options: a field-of-view slider, on consoles only.
On Mac, the Steam, GOG and Epic versions received the update on launch day. The Mac App Store version, like the Switch 2 version, follows a few days later.
