Devsisters marked the tenth anniversary of Cookie Run: OvenBreak on 27 October with a large update and a set of ten-year figures: 54.08 million players worldwide and more than 415.6 billion won in cumulative revenue, eToday reported, citing the company. The mobile runner launched globally on 27 October 2016.
According to the same figures, reported in matching detail by Inven, players have run for 38 billion minutes in total, and the game’s best month reached 4.69 million monthly active users. Over 242 updates, Devsisters has added 336 cookies, 277 pets, 2,136 cookie and jelly skins and 8,274 maps.
The anniversary update centres on My Cookie, a system that lets players design their own cookie’s look and pick its abilities, then use it in races and Stampede Escape modes. A two-player co-op mode shares a single health bar. A retrospective event mode replays scenes from 19 past Stampede Escape episodes, and two new cookies arrive now, with a third due in mid-November.
At a media roundtable on 24 October in Seoul, director Yeon Jeong-heum said the team is planning for the game to reach its 20th and 30th anniversaries. He also said that, after a long period of steady results, growing revenue is not essential at this stage, Dealsite reported. His priorities are lowering the barrier for new players, adding modes and user-made content such as the map maker, and taking the World Championship esports finals to the United States, Taiwan and Japan over time.
